A senior delegate team from Kirloskar Electric , led by Mr. K. Jagannath, Associate Vice President, Power Generation Group participated in the Event " Energy Needs of Indian Railways" at New Delhi on 11-12 April 2016. The event was co-sponsored by Kirloskar Electric Company. K. Jagannath briefed the delegates of the conference on "Design & Development of high energy electrical products" & made a detailed presentation on products specifically tailored to Indian Railways. The main aim of the "Energy needs of Railways conference " was to focus on energy savings in both Traction & Non traction areas.
Honorable minister of Railways Mr. Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu enunciated the mission of Railways in energy saving and sought the active participation of Industries to make the vision a Reality. Mr. A. K. Kapoor Member Electrical from Railway Board also brought out in his deliberation the measures of energy saving which Railways is focusing in Traction & Non Traction areas.
To summarize, The primary objective of the conference was to dwell up on all the methods of energy saving including giving impetus for non-conventional energy sources like Solar & wind. In this direction it was felt that Usage of the modern sophisticated equipments like Static frequency converters, static VAR compensator & load balancing converters can facilitate energy saving.
Indian Railways expressed their keenness to further enhance the association with Kirloskar electric in the areas of Traction & Non Traction.
